Improve your culinary prowess & add to your understanding and appreciation of the food you eat.
This is no ordinary cooking class, as you will leave with a new outlook on food, fully equipped for everyday cooking & health. This class is suitable for both the beginner and the experienced chef, as it combines cooking skills with Ayurvedic nutrition to give a comprehensive understanding of food, seasonal diets & eating according to your body type.
The classes held at Satmya are small informal gatherings where you can learn in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Private classes can be organised if you want to get a group of friends or work colleagues together for a fun morning/afternoon/evening.
About the Course
Ayurveda teaches us that taste is paramount to balance bodily energies/Doshas. In all Ayurvedic dishes, flavours are used in varying amounts to assist with digestion, assimilation of nutrients & to improve health. Ayurveda pays close attention to seasonal & individual variations.
This half day course is designed to show you the basics in Ayurvedic cooking & give you an understanding about the energetics of food (you also get to eat lots of tasty food on the day).
Following a basic introductory talk about Ayurveda you will be taken step by step through the preparation & cooking process of an Ayurvedic breakfast & lunch dish suitable for the Spring season. Mid way through the morning you will also be shown how to prepare Chai using the traditional method.
